Audience Abduction! – Game # 5

October 30, 2006

Flying saucers! Everywhere! Run for your life! They are after you!

Aah, boring. Instead of escaping, we might as well try how much adrenaline we can handle and move towards it. That is exciting – and we always want to learn more about aliens.

In fact, thats a great way to make money!

Sounds crazy? Well, that never hurts.

More on its way

October 25, 2006

Things have slowed down a little here at Experimental Blog. That’s not a burnout, though – it is us entering the “normal” schedule for this project. The four games you see here were already finished and published when we started, so it wasn’t so hard to add them to the blog!

Now, the next games have to be finished before posting (although we are aware that some developers don’t bother these days). There are some prototypes already working and some of them do even deserve to be presented to you. Right now, the new project (which we’ve referred to in “Word Pool Check”) is still missing music, but other than that, it’s working and playable. As some kind of apology for the slower updates from now on, please enjoy a few screenshots – a sneak peak of what is to come. Keep in mind though: Graphics are there – but they are not so important for us. We want to test new concepts!

Trouble Tower – Game # 4

October 22, 2006

Quiz! What’s the tallest building on earth right now? Answer: A television transmitting tower in North Dakota. Height: 629 metres (2063 ft). See wikipedia for a picture. But, in all honesty… so what? Thats a boring tower. There, I said it. Everyone can do better. Whats so difficult about it, anyway?

Well, this game is your chance to show the world you can do it. Create a tower so big, so huge, so enormous that people will forever remember your name. I’m sure its easy. Are you?

The game is named “Trouble Tower”. What might cause that name, aside the obvious alliteration I’m always after?

Puzzletter – Game # 3

October 17, 2006

Whats better than a puzzlegame?

Simple – a puzzlegame with a message. You need: Important pieces of literature (“FOUL IS FAIR”) and a physics engine. Sounds interesting? You bet.

Word Pool Check

Did you try our games yet? If not, then go, play them and give us feedback – it’s free after all! :)

Let us play a different, small game, shall we? Think of an object – any object.

Got one? Good.

Audience Artist – Game # 2

October 14, 2006

So how many of your paintings can be found in art galleries? Oh sure, we all have one or two out there, but…

Hang on, you don’t have a painting in an art gallery? Not even one? They didn’t even consider putting it there?

Well, we all started small. I can tell you what you were doing wrong: You don’t listen to your audience. You ignore their wishes. You draw what nobody wants.

Madness in the form of a game awaits you inside.

Game # 1

October 13, 2006

All things have a beginning and in our case, that was back in April of 2006. Although I had a “big” project at that time (which is still somewhere on my harddrive), which may or may not be continued in the future, I decided to take a break from it and developed a concept that I had in my mind for quite some time.

The idea behind it was simple: Building things + destroy them according to the music. I thought it would be a match made in heaven.

Intro

October 13, 2006

It’s always difficult to start – or to write the first post on a blog like this. At this point, you are lucky that people even reached your blog, now it’s your task to make sure they stay and/or come back (at the time of this writing, there won’t be a lot of reasons to really stay here, but in the future, this will hopefully change). What do you have to write so people think “wow, this blog is going to be pretty interesting?”?

Well, it probably wont hurt to tell you what we (yes, there’s more than one) want to accomplish here. Because the title of our Blog – Experimental Blog – could mean anything (We discussed if we should add a subtitle, and I am sure we will in the very near future, but for now, there is nothing besides “Experimental Blog” to tell you what exactly we are doing here.).

We create games. Computer games, right there for you to play. Sure, there are… about a zillion games already on the web, so why bother with these? The point is, we don’t know either – yet. In fact, it’s not so much that we are generous and let you play what we made – it’s that we are after your feedback. See, we don’t just take any random puzzle, arcade game or shooter and then say “Let’s do this!”. We try to make something a little more unique. We want our games to surprise you – and although we want to keep the rules simple, the games shall be able to entertain you quite a while.

They don’t? Don’t hesitate – tell us. Say that you hate it. But also tell us what you want us to improve. Tell us whats bugging you and if you want, how it could be improved – that’s the feedback we need. Constructive is the keyword!

On the other hand, there are also the encouraging comments. And thats important as well. It does take time to create these games, so we appreciate any and every “nice”-post of you. It just brings a smile to your face when you know that someone, somewhere enjoyed the game!

All in all, this is a project that could go anywhere. What we want is feedback for our games, as well as a platform to show them. Other than that, there will also be the comment from me or Turrican – whats going on with our life and/or the games. Don`t worry, we won’t bore you to death too often!

I’ve now talked long enough, it’s time to start this project. There are a few games already finished (some of them published already), and the next few posts will be about them. So check back later and see what happened in our labs! ;)

(By the way – english isn’t our native language, so excuse our mistakes – we will make some. Don’t point and laugh at our language, point and laugh at our games!)
